"Six inches is a wide gap in Hanoi." So says one of our students after a day walking around Hanoi. He's right; any six inch gap is an invitation to maneuver a motorbike through it. Makes for interesting walking around town.
In the photo (which isn't real clear) in addition to the cars, bikes and motor cycles there are two kids playing catch. You might be able to pick out one of them if you squint a little. I might add that in this particular shot the street is relatively clear. When it's full I concentrate on staying out of the way and not on taking a photo.
And lining the narrow streets on the sidewalk sit families sharing meals and selling things: cans of paint in one store front, electric fans in another, rolls of cable in yet another, fruit in the next stall.
