Ha'Long Bay

If it weren't for the heat, this bay (a UNESCO World Heritage site) would be close to paradise. I can't describe the heat so that anyone could understand. I'm almost almost getting used to the clammy feeling. If you don't fight it it's not so oppressive.

Instead, I'll put out photos and let you see the best part -- the beauty. Kayaking, on the beach or in a cave -- it's all good. We slept on the boat, did morning Tai Chi, got a lesson in making spring rolls, walked through Amazing Cave,  and now we're on the way back to Hanoi to catch the overnight train to Hue and central Vietnam.

In the bay there are floating villages, people who have lived on the water for generations. The villagers came alongside our boat and tried to sell us snacks and drinks from their boats.

The 7-course dinner had several watermelon and pineapple lanterns carved by the chef so I had to show the watermelon.

  1. So happy when you include pictures of yourself. Thank you!! Also loving all the stories and reading of your adventure. Heat is an awful thing, but good for you not fighting it. That is a challenge.
