Hue 2

I'm getting more and more used to walking in the heat and dripping with sweat while seeing the sights. Hue continues to be a place where I think I'd like to spend more time. And my eternal quest for the color green has found a partner -- the hills around Hue can rival Iowa in their green-ness.

Today we went to 2 mausoleums near Hue and the citadel in Hue. The citadel was the center of fighting during the 1968 Tet Offensive. Bullet holes remain as testament to that fact. The Citadel is a smaller version of China's Forbidden City.

Everyone was disappointed that the elephant that used to reside at the citadel is no longer here to give rides. We had been looking forward to an elephant ride.

Hue's food is delicious. From its soup to its "tacos" (called Hue Pancakes) to its desserts of fruit and fried bananas -- its lall good. The fruit in Vietnam is great. Pineapples sold on sticks (like a lollipop) are so sweet; bananas sold at stands and at the entrance to mausoleums are small and delicious; and there are numerous other kinds that I've never seen before.
