Scotland doesn't have famous landmarks like Paris or London. But it has great writers and philosophers: Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Walter Scott, Hume -- and J. K. Rowling. We saw the writer's museum and the cafe where Rowling started writing Harry Potter.
I kind of like the street artists too -- especially the one impersonating a Magritte painting. And the bagpipe group that was playing Bulgarian tunes -- instead of the usual Scottish airs.
And I tried haggis with neeps (turnips) and tatties (mashed potatoes) under a whiskey sauce. I was afraid I wouldn't like it so I just got an appetizer-sized portion. It was surprisingly tasty. Doug chose a curry instead; he didn't think that sheep's entrails suited his solid commitment to vegetarianism.
Looks so exciting Hope! The Elephant House was one of my favorite places that I visited while in Edinburgh.
