We did less walking today -- more driving and several small museums. In order to walk in this wind you have to make sure you have nothing that can act like a sail (an open jacket or a hood, for example), plant your feet firmly, and hang onto your hat. And, most importantly, don't walk near the edge of the cliff. Even the sheep look like they're nearly going to blow down the hillsides. Doug says we won't worry until we see the sheep lift-off.
The Isle of Lewis is known for the Viking-era chess pieces that were discovered on the western coast of the isle. The real pieces are in museums in London and Edinburgh, but you can see replicas everywhere.
The beaches, while not ones where you want to sit and sun yourself, are some of the most beautiful I have seen.
I LOVE the sheep!! So cool—the Isle of Lewis looks to be truly magical! Did you get a chance see or get any pictures if the Callanish standing stones?
